Five charming little stories from India for children everywhere. These are stories of beautiful little worlds of animals and birds and other things as they live out their lives in the human context, reflecting all the good and the bad of man's nature, ultimately reverting to their innate innocence.. Created and published first in May 1976, with a 2nd edition in June 1999, these revised and improved ‘four decades old’ stories, written in Indian English, may look quaint in their style of telling in today’s technology-infused life and language. But if you can look at them as simple stories that children enjoyed reading, and parents liked reading them aloud to young ones those days, you and your children may also get to enjoy them just as they did then. These stories are not ‘folk tales’ or ‘retold stories’ of any kind. They were created and written for either being read by children, or being read out to them.
Appu and the Big Fat Raindrop edition by Jagannath Sharma Mrugank Joshi Children eBooks
I highly recommend that parents of young children buy "Appu and the Big Fat Raindrop" for their children - and for themselves. This slim collection of short stories is a thought-provoking little gem that contains truths for all of us. In the title story, the little girl asks a question that children through the ages have asked: Where does the rain come from? She asks this of the raindrops, the sea, the clouds and the sun, who all want to take credit, and in the end gets her answer in a way that both parents and children will find fascinating and entertaining. Like Aesop's Fables, each story contains a moral, but the moral is not heavy-handed. or preachy. The stories tell us that greed and destruction as well as compassion and humility are characteristics inherent in the entire natural world. The ability of the author to integrate the lives of animals, birds and human beings and point out the unifying aspects of all creation is impressive indeed. This is the art of story-telling at its best.Product details
