Detective Sergeant Mikolaj (Nick) Zajac of the San Jose Police Department and his partner Aloysius Rosewell Splaine are assigned to investigate a homicide with a very strange twist to it – the victim’s index finger is missing, leaving only a bloody stump. But the weirdness doesn’t stop there. Soon bodies are showing up all over the place, each missing an index finger, all involving different methods of death, forcing the entire homicide unit to get involved. At the same time, an old enemy, Nathaniel Moby (Touched By Blood), returns to finish his deadly business with Zajac and his estranged girlfriend Ellen Banks. This page turning, non-stop action thriller will keep you guessing to the very end.

Kept me intrigued throughout the plot and was almost on the edge through out the book. I couldn't wait until the end to see what happens. Good reading.

Dead Finger eBook Craig Buckhout Michael Clawson Christina Ewing Reviews

It doesn't take a lot of brain power to read this book but it will give your heart a great workout. The characters are excellent, the plot moves at a rapid pace, and the storyline sizzles with action, violence, love, affection, trauma, and high drama. It is truly a great read.
Dead Finger by Craig Buckhout

The problem with many crime novels is that the writer doesn't know enough about detectives and police procedure, so the characters speak and act like movie cops. Buckhout writes about crime with an accurate voice, gained through years of experience as a homicide detective. Dead Finger picks up where Touched by Blood characters left us a year ago, but it's much more than a sequel.
Nick Zajac, sad-eyed detective, has a complicated murder to solve while his personal life is suddenly on the skids. He fell hard for the beautiful Ellen, but now she's disappeared and doesn't want him to follow her. Meanwhile, his partner, three hundred pound Al Splaine tries to cheer Nick with corny Polish jokes.
Buckhout writes excellent dialogue, making the detectives seem like real people rather than cardboard cops. The story moves at a good pace while Nick puts all the pieces of the crime puzzle together. The reader will love this cop and look forward to the next Zajac novel.
The book was good, but gruesome. It was a little raw for my taste. Very descriptive in parts. And seems to me very real.
Kept me intrigued throughout the plot and was almost on the edge through out the book. I couldn't wait until the end to see what happens. Good reading.
